1/30/09 The puppies are so big and mobile, the 'pig rails' in the box came
down today.
1/31/09 The pups weigh in like little Sumo wrestlers! 2lbs each, except for
Paris and Wonder who are 1.5lbs
2/1/09 The puppies look for me now, when they hear my voice, and are eager
to climb on and give kisses and then nap, draped over a leg or arm. I can
tell they do not see well, and have not realized that the world extends both
above and beyond their box! I continue to be in awe of Merry's mothering
skills. She uses her time wisely! she is less at their beck and call,
gradually easing their need for her constant presence. But she is still on a
strict time schedule for feeding and cleaning. She has also lightened up on
her "no dogs" policy and allows Jolie to watch the brood from
outside the box. I stay close though, because I can tell Merry has a
boundary in mind that Jolie may not recognize! If Jolie leans into the box
too far, she gets the 'stink eye' from Momma! :) Merry continues to enjoy
showing the pups off to any and all humans. Strangers included.
2/2/09 The box is overflowing with character this week! Their personalities
'woke up' in a nice little progression. First Flash, then Paris. Then Eric
and Hef, then came Wonder and then Bunnie...and then finally, today, Jet.
They have each come to grips with my GIANT talking head, and have concluded
that it is, thank goodness, connected to the voice and touch with which they
are already familiar.
2/3/09 They are already clamoring for human contact. If only they could SEE
better, they could find me so much easier! They START like they have been
cattle prodded, out of a dead sleep. And then look around trying to find me.
Although they are looking up more and more, they still mostly think I am IN
the box..
2/4/09 There are so many puppies using the puppy potty pads, I had to put
another one in! They are getting quite good at it already. I have seen the
same pup go to the pad to potty several times. But then, sometimes they are
thinking about something else...and well, you just can't be expected to do
everything at once right away.
2/5/09 Whose puppies are these???? Growling, pouncing, BARKING......and of
course kissing. The puppies seem to advance hourly!

"Paris"
She has her own first! She was
the first to RUN! Unfortunately, without the gift of full sight, she
plummets
right into the side of the box. I am going to have a PUG before long! I think she is the girl
version of Flash. I wonder if she and Flash will remain partners in crime!
