W have 6 beds
available....including mine....
Merry tried them all out, and has made the right choice!
Scroll down for more
pictures! 8/11/10 Merry has her last bath before
puppies come, and "we" begin to prepare my bedroom for the big
event.
8/13/10 xrays show at least 6 puppies, but probably not the 8 that were
indicated in the ultrasound. This is always a possibility, since the
ultrasound is done only 28 days after conception. Although slightly
disappointing, this is completely normal.
8/17/10 Merry's temp is still normal and 100.0 in the morning and 100.4 in
the evening. She sure is big now! She is still trotting everywhere and her
belly makes a funny little slapping sound, now that she is full of milk! She
pants a bit, but still sleeps soundly all night long.
8/18/10 This is the first day she actually lay down in the box! When we put
it together she looked a little nervous. Like 'that's great....but I'm not
ready!" Temps still normal all day....until tonight! 8PM
Merry's temp is finally starting to drop! 99.2! And at 10 98.9. Maybe
tomorrow!
8/19 AM Merry is still resting calmly, but her temp tells all. 98.2 this
morning! Today is the day! I expect we will be all done some time this
evening. If you look back at her last litter, the progression is very
similar. (go back to puppies, scroll down to the bottom to All RD litters.
the litters are listed most recent first. Merry's last litter was with
Parker in Jan 2009.
11AM Merry is waiting much more patiently than I am!
6:15 UM. Well, I really thought we'd have some action by now! In fact, I
thought we'd be DONE by now. We have spend HOURS in the box, we have dug in
the towels, we have gone potty one MILLION times. But we have NOT started
the process! :)))
Well, the process finally started about 10:15. Puppies began coming out just
after midnight, and now it is
8/20/10 4:15 AM .....and we have
7 beautiful, healthy babies!
All about 13oz. 3 boys (2 blue, 1 black)
and 4 black girls! pics after we get some sleep
10AM Everybody went for their vet check....all handled and kissed and
oooo'ed over. And all in perfect health.
10:30 PM Well "day 1" has been a long one. SHEW!
Tomorrow we address the aviary and its required transformation as the
outdoor puppy area. Right now, Merry is giving the other dogs the death
glare. Even though she knows darn well they aren't coming near the pups. The
are sectioned off, behind an xpen many feet from her box. Baron is voicing
his concern, that this will make 100 and ONE nights he hasn't been able to
sleep on the bed. Merry has bed dibs, although she'll probably not join me
at all tonight. Must keep puppies warm and fed! :)) But she will always have
the option, until she and the pups move outside. Baron can hardly wait!
