I chuckle when I think of a conversation I had with my mother. It was
the first time this subject had come up, some 35 years after my birth.
We were discussing, as if we both knew plenty about it, the rules for
“winning” behind the wheel of a car. We discussed it as if it was a
completely ordinary, every day kind of thing. For instance, she
didn’t know that if the person next to you slows down to turn off
the road, as long as you pass him while he has one tire still on the
main road, you “win”. Actually, sometimes, even if they are just still
in SIGHT. She likes my rules better.
